Fishing has always played an important role in lake Åsunden area.
Spinning and trolling for pike are famous far beyond Sweden. Less known, old local tradition is ice fishing for burbot. Utdala Gård farm is placed in a picturesque countryside with interesting history and rich cultural traditions amongst fields and forests. From the farm a breathtaking view over a lake is to be enjoyed. We offer our guests high standard, newly renovated housings with the eighteenth century atmosphere. Except for fishing, the neighborhood offers forests rich in mushrooms and berries, watering places and bicycle routes.

FISHERIES
Lake Åsunden’s area covers ca. 6 000 ha. Its water is clean, having the quality of the drinking water. Maximum depth of the lake is 60 meters. Open parts of the lake are poor with nutrition, however, numerous gulfs surrounded by arable land provide wealth of fish in neighboring waters.
Lake Åsunden has lots of islands which form structures resembling archipelagos with  hills and shallows that hold big pike.

FISH SPECIES
Lake Åsunden provides abundance of pike, perch, pike perch, eel, tench, burbot, European whitefish, bream, rudd  and many other kinds of fish as well as signal crayfish. One can also encounter trout whose population is threatened. Part of the income from fishing licenses is allocated to the trout saving program.

FISHING
Spinning in the Spring and in the Autumn produces the best pike fishing which may result in a fish as big as ten to fifteen kg. Trolling in deeper waters proves also successful in the Summer. Pike season starts in April and runs until October, but ice fishing in the winter may bring a good fish too. 
Ice fishing for burbot is a popular local tradition cherished in the lake Åsunden area.
Perch is fished on a float. Trolling and spinning in the spring-autumn season is also successful. Also in the winter you can do ice fishing with good results.
Crawfish fishing takes place in August and September ensuring good results thanks to  proper water management.

  

 

FISHING REGULATIONS                                                                                                                                                        Fishing regulations are consistent with the provisions of ”Det Naturliga Fisket” (nature friendly fishing Organization). All fish that are not to be consumed the same day must be released.
Fishing license can be purchased for the whole lake or a part of it.

BOATS AND FISHING EQUIPMENT

We offer boats. Boats are 4 meters long and equipped with 4 and 10 HP engines. Prices include life-jackets. You can get an echo sounder for an extra fee.
Fishing equipment, clothing and other accessories can be bought at a well-stocked local store. On request all our guests can be offered an introduction including tips and recommendations. One can rent a trolling boat with a guide.
